Customer Review:

Mark says this is his new favorite watch. It reminds him of the original square, simple Casio back in the day. He says this model is all modern – solar power, atomic sync, G-Shock tough and the standard Casio feature set. This model also has a nice, simple color scheme compared to other 5610 models and the negative display adds to the stealth factor.

Some people says the negative display is hard to read, but Mark had no problem. But he said in a dim room, it’s a little hard to see, and in a dark room it’s impossible – but that’s true of any watch pretty much. And that’s why there is a back light – this one nicely lights up only the digits, not the whole watch face – a nice effect. His only complaint is that it’s not programmable for either 1sec or 3sec like other G-shocks – this one is stuck at 1sec which is just long enough to see the time.

2. Citizen Eco-Drive Chandler Field Watch

Built with Citizen’s reliable Eco-Drive technology, the BM8180-03E is a rugged military-style field watch that will go well with anyone of your outfits: from army fatigues to jeans, khakis, and all the way to a plaid kilt with bagpipes. It’s small, lightweight, very legible and easy to read. Couple that with its solar-powered cell and army aesthetic and you’ll understand why thousands of people choose the BM8180-03E as their everyday carry timekeeper.

Under direct sunlight, you can see the pie chart-esque photo-voltaic solar cell under the black part of the dial. It has a red-brown hue. At full charge, the BM8180-03E will keep ticking for about 6 months if you place it in a dark room. If you keep wearing it or leave it in the open, it will constantly self-recharge. The Eco-Drive motto is “powered by any light” meaning powered both from the sun (natural light) and lightbulbs (artificial light).

The hands-on this Citizen are an aggressive sword-style with a skeletonized lower portion. Aesthetically, they appear to point sharply and directly at the proper indices, and are a good choice for a field watch. The seconds hand is a classic red arrow of time with a small white cutout for the lume. The date window tells you the day of the week and the date of the month. It’s a rounded rectangle that takes the place of the 3-o’clock hour marker, and it fits there quite well.

It’s not the most comfortable, but canvas straps usually aren’t. The band quality is in line with the rest of the watch. The olive drab color contrasts very nicely with the black dial for that military aesthetic, and that’s the most important part.

  • Case material: Stainless steel
  • Dial: Analog with Day-Date window
  • Movement: Japanese Quartz

  • Band: 18 mm width, Canvas straps
  • Water Resistance: 100 meters (330 feet)

Customer Review:

He says it is light weight, doesn’t feel bulky or huge on the wrist. He can hardly notice it’s there at times when he is wearing it. He also says, classic utilitarian design with the olive green strap, has a clean minimalistic dial and straight to the point-day/date complication. There is no extra fuss or unnecessary bling on this watch. Which he personally liked, gives it a very classy understatement which makes it a very wearable watch with a-lot different outfits and situations.

Lume is decent and legible but not exactly the best, he said. For the price he really can’t complain. He usually shines it with his 300 lumen flashlight for a couple of seconds before going to bed and it seems to do the trick, gives off a nice shine in the dark!

Canvas strap is a bit stiff at first, but he can feel it breaking in and becoming more flexible after just the very first week of wearing it, so this shouldn’t be much of an issue in the long run. He is excited for the fact that he don’t need to worry about changing batteries on the watch. This idea of having a perpetual running watch on his wrist powered by light is not only practical but also adds a very cool factor to the watch.

3. Orient ER27007W Automatic Watch

  • Band: 22 mm width, Leather
  • Water Resistance: 30 meters (99 feet)

Customer Review:

Jack says this is a gorgeous watch that looks elegant and classic. The leather band is very dark brown color with croc-skin finish. It is high quality but he finds it really hard to pull off and doesn’t look that great IMO. He bought the 22mm Hadley Roma brown band and it fits perfectly. He wears the watch about 11 hours per day at a desk job and it will keep working for about 18 more hours before running out of juice; however, he has not tested this extensively.

He also says the automatic movement works really well though as it can start ticking only after around fifteen seconds of movement. He highly recommends this watch for both casual everyday usage as well as for dressier occasions. One of the reviewers mentioned the second hand glides 5/6 times per second but he thinks it actually glides 4 times per second.

Customer Review:

Jon McClung said he got this watch three months ago and have worn it all most every day since. The design of this watch is very good and minimalist. The minute/second numbers around the perimeter aren’t very big so you don’t notice them usually and it looks like a numberless face, which he prefers. The hour markers are very clear and the materials look very quality, it sparkles on a sunny day if you move your wrist around. The leather strap feels nice and smells really good when you first get it and the smell wears off after a few days.

He get compliments regularly on this beautiful watch. Though the hour markings and hands glow in the dark, but you have to keep in mind this is limited. It only glows dimly for a minute or so before turning off. So he said it’s not a watch that you can expect to use in the dark all the time.

The watch face is very durable, he used it for three months and it still doesn’t have any scratches on it. He complained the crown pops out on its own every now and then, pausing time. And this usually happens when taking off a jacket.

6. Bulova 98H51

Bulova 98H51

Bulova 98H51 Specification:

  • Case size: 37 mm Diameter, 6 mm Thickness
  • Case material: Stainless steel
  • Dial: Analog with date window
  • Movement: Japanese Quartz
  • Crystal: Mineral
  • Band: 20 mm width, Leather
  • Water Resistance: 30 meters (99 feet)

Customer Review:

Micha bought both the black and brown versions of this watch about one and a half years ago, and since then, he cannot count how many times he has been complimented about his watch.

He says Bulova is a fantastic minimalist watch. It basically has three hands, a date window and 12 hour marker on it, and the Bulova logo.

This watch is unusually sturdy despite its look – he has accidentally hit this watch face against walls, desks, and poles before, and he has yet to see a scratch on the watch. He thinks the leather wristband is of medium quality, and has held up in 1.5 years of every-other-day use (as he alternates between black and brown).

One thing he pointed out that the date is automatically set to 31 days of the month, so in months with 30 (or 29/28) days, he needs to manually adjust the date when the new month starts.

Yogesh says this watch looks very classy. The watch band is little short, may not be suitable for people with thicker wrist. He has average wrist and it fits on the second last hole.
Overall the watch is beautiful.

Fuller bought this watch as a gift, it came quickly and he was pleased by the product. The leather strap was in good condition, looks nice, and is comfortable to wear. He would recommend the product.

Customer Review:

Joseph could immediately tell, right out of the box that it is an item of superb quality! A watch is not only about telling the time but it also serves as a statement and symbol. It tells the world what kind of man you are – a gentleman.

He truly loved the craftsmanship of Vincero’s Men’s Kairos Watch. The only downside is that he said is the product description did not specify the length of the watchband. He recommends going to Vincero’s site and looking at the difference in sizes. He said this standard watchband is 24cm and that the “large” version of the watchband is 28cm (roughly an extra 1.5 inches).

He also says this is a quality product, and he will definitely purchase other watches and watchbands from them in the future, however he would thoroughly research or ask what size the band is, or else he might find it far too small for your wrist!

He is also looking forward to buy a marble watches from Vincero next month.

  • Water Resistance: 200 meters (660 feet)

Customer Review:

Jason wanted something that looked refined, while at the same time having that robust & rugged look. He found the Victorinox INOX on Amazon by searching for “military watches” & it immediately got his attention. He loved the look of this watch. It had that refined expensive look & feel, while maintaining the durability of a purpose built military watch.

He says this watch is built like a tank, alsp the case is thick & heavy & at 4.66 ounces (total weight with paracord band), it is probably heavier than some people will prefer. He has little 6.5 inch wrists & was very concerned about the size of the watch, but he took the risk. It’s big, but not unbearable. The camo paracord band is a very nice touch.

He didn’t like it at first, but he is getting used to it after wearing it for several hours. As he said before, this watch is appropriate with business casual attire, but will also go well with cargo shorts & a t-shirt. If this watch wears well after a few months he may grab another one with a leather band to wear with his suits.

Casey had to buy this since he had the matching belt, wallet, and bag. It has become his favorite watch, and he likes it more than his Bulova with diamonds. He says this watch is a classic, stylish, timeless, not too flashy, and comfortable.

12. Emporio Armani AR2448 Watch

Emporio Armani AR2448 Watch

Emporio Armani AR2448 Specification:

  • Case size: 41 mm Diameter, 11 mm Thickness
  • Case material: Stainless steel
  • Dial: Analog with date window
  • Movement: Quartz
  • Crystal: Mineral
  • Band: 20 mm width, Stainless steel
  • Water Resistance: 50 meters (165 feet)

Customer Review:

Mark says this is the best watch he purchased. He really liked the Emporio Armani style, sleek design and comfortable fit.

This watch also is a good size. He likes bigger style watches, however, he doesn’t like the big kitchen clock on his wrist. This watch is the perfect size for the office atmosphere. Also, he tends to wear a lot of blue, so this watch matches well with most of his outfits.

His one single complaint is that he found that the band started to get scratched after only a few days of wear. So he just became aware of it being on my wrist so he didn’t scratch it any further.

Customer Reviews

Rob has had this watch for about 2 weeks now and so far he is very impressed. He has been collecting dive watches for about 20 years now and this Phoibos has become one of my favorites. He never thought he would buy a watch made in China but the online reviews were good and he decided to give it a shot.

He says the quality is very good and he thinks other people would be hard pressed to find a better dive watch under $200. He also said if it were solar powered like a Citizen eco-drive, it might very well be the perfect inexpensive dive watch.

He has a smaller wrist so he contacted Phoibos and ordered a shorter rubber band for his watch. He thinks the new band looks and feels better than the original.

Customer Reviews

Ramjit purchased this watch intending to have it as a cheaper quartz alternative to a Seiko Turtle. After having worn this watch for a few weeks since purchase, he come up with some pros and cons.

Pros: It has short Lug to Lug distance so it doesn’t wear too large. It has good screwdown crown action and nice etching on the caseback and crown.
Cons: It has a dismal lume, barely readable in the dark after normal light exposure. The bezel stiffness – requires significant effort to rotate. And the strap is a lint magnet.
